POSTED BY PETE SIMMONS, NOVEMBER 20 2007 11:45 AM | PERMALINK

Since the Dolphins, Heat and Hurricanes all suck, we tell South Floridians how they should better spend their time.

Plus, the Bleacher Bloggers Royal Shakespearian Troupe performs an ARod-Boras reenactment; we lament Barry Bonds and his giant head and share some lowlights from the college football world.

    • Torre the Right Man for the Job

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, OCTOBER 18 2007 09:45 AM | PERMALINK

One of the funniest long-standing jokes in modern sports is certainly Steinbrenner's insane circus of managers with the Yankees. I have come to expect insanity regarding this from the Yankees front office (even though it's been a long, relatively calm era under Torre.) I have even come to expect the insane expectations and reactive attitude of the New York media on this issue, so it doesn't surprise me to see the New York sports news outlets to be advocating a change at manager. What really surprises...

I've been to more sports events in this last month that many people go to in a year. Ok, so that's a bold statement, but my point is, if you read my last post on my first Yankees Game, I'm here to tell you that I've stepped it up a notch and went to my first Mets game last night. How did it match up, you ask? Even though they didn't win, I had an awesome time! And here are my top 5 highlights from the game:

      5. Nathan's Hot Dogs. Need I say more? (This puts Dodger Dogs to shame....)

      4. Tony...

On today’s show, we razz the Vikings for losing to the Chiefs; we give some love to the U.S. women’s soccer squad – the most dominant sports team in America; and we ask: “Why oh why are Georgia and Alabama fans being nice to each other?”

Plus, the one-and-only Yankees Chick drops by to give us her take on all things baseball.

Ever since I moved to New York, I wanted to do a few things: Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, Buy a hot dog from a street cart, hail a cab, and go to a Yankees game. I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and that was OK, I got sick off a street dog last week, and the last cab I took, the cabbie asked me how to get where I was going. Needless to say, the Yankees game was the only task on my New York 'to do list' that hit a home run in my books.

Last night at the Yankees VS Mariner's game, I was...

    • What To Do With an All-Star Gone South?

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, AUGUST 29 2007 02:25 PM | PERMALINK

This just in: Mike Mussina is no longer a good pitcher. Hell, he's not even a mediocre pitcher anymore. Yes, shocking news to all of you, I know. Mussina couldn't have possibly picked a worse time for the Yankees and their fans to lose his Hall of Fame arm. Admittedly, late August is not a good time for any pitcher to go in the tank, but it's especially heartbreaking for the Yankees right now. Except that no one has sympathy for the Yankees woes outside of their fandom, so the empathy factor...

    • Top Ten Worst Sports Fans

10.) Cincinnati Bengals fans: Tigers can't change their stripes, and Cincinnati Bengals fans can't change how fickle they are. During the lean years of futility in the franchise history, in which the team posted 14 consecutive losing seasons, seeing a Bengals jersey on the street happened about as many times as Pete Rose turns down a bet ... very rarely. Now that Marvin Lewis has brought the Bengals back to the elite levels of the NFL, the city is awash in a hyperactive frenzy of orange and black in...

POSTED BY DAVE, AUGUST 14 2007 07:39 PM | PERMALINK

Growing up, I was a die hard Yankee fan. Over the course of an entire season, maybe I missed five games a year. My life literally revolved around the Yankees. And they weren't even that good. But it didn't matter. As long as I could watch Mattingly, Righetti, Winfield and the rest of the boys - and listen to Phil Rizzuto call the action - I was set.

So hearing the news today that Rizzuto passed away makes me more than a little sad. He was as much a staple of my childhood as school, playing Little...

    • Clemens' Suspension is a Joke

POSTED BY KENNETH ENGLAND, AUGUST 10 2007 10:50 AM | PERMALINK

It is not uncommon for fans to vehemently disagree with the commissioner’s office in baseball, particularly Selig’s administration, but the five-game suspension of Clemens for the events in the Blue Jays / Yankees series takes the cake.

The Blue Jays clearly had an axe to grind with Alex Rodriguez, after he had startled the Jays’ fielders by yelling while approaching third with a infield fly ball in the air earlier this year, causing the ball to drop to the ground.

      Following that incident,...
