NY Football ... It's Craptastic!

POSTED BY Dave Aizer, 18 September 2007

Two weeks into the NFL season and already football here in NY is on life support. The Giants stink, the Jets stink and just to complete the NY trifecta, the Buffalo Bills stink. That's no wins, six losses and a whole lot o' suck.

As for the Bills, in light of what happened with Kevin Everett, they get somewhat of a free pass. But where on earth is their offense? They've scored 17 points so far and can't throw the ball worth a lick. So much was written in the offseason about JP Losman finally turning it around this year. But, then again, I feel like I read that every year. And I'm still waiting for the first sign of it coming true.

As for the Giants, hey, here's an idea, play some defense. They've allowed 80 points in two games. 80 POINTS! It takes the Ravens six weeks to give that up. Big Blue's pass rush is anemic and their secondary can't cover anyone. No pass rush and bad pass coverage = long days at the office.

Onto my favorite team, the Jets. Although, after the brutal way they lost to the Ravens (dropping three TD's in the final minute) I am the closest I've ever been to renouncing them and starting over. I mean, how many years does a fan base have to put up with devastating, heartbreaking losses? No team in any sport breaks your heart quite like the Jets. One more win from the Browns, and I'm buying a Kellen Winslow jersey.

Like their fellow Giants Stadium tenants, the Jets have no pass rush and a lousy pass defense. In fact, the next sack or turnover they cause will be their first of the season. And on offense, great move to bring in Thomas Jones! I think he's averaging about 2 yards a carry. The only thing to root for right now is the emergence of Kellen Clemens as our next QB. But it seems like Chad Pennington is coming back this weekend; so look forward to another day of wobbly eight yard passes.

So where do these teams go from here? How long do they stick with JP Losman in Buffalo? Do the Giants fire Tom Coughlin before week 5? And when do the Jets give Chad Pennington a hearty slap on the back, thank him for his courage, and hand the ball to Kellen Clemens?

And most importantly, where do I find a Browns' jersey?

nfl, football, giants, jets, pennington, bills, nyGiants, new york, browns, sucks

the giants are so bad they should get the first pick in the NFL and the NBA draft next year

Don't blame Thomas Jones. The Jets had no running game last year either. It's clearly the fault of an undersized line that just can't open holes.

I also wouldn't be so quick to ditch Chad. Yea, Kellen made some throws last game that Chad can only dream of (though most of them were still incomplete), but there were many throws that Kellen completely missed on that Chad would have used perfect touch to float the ball perfectly into the receiver's hands.
