My First Yankees Game

Ever since I moved to New York, I wanted to do a few things: Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, Buy a hot dog from a street cart, hail a cab, and go to a Yankees game. I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and that was OK, I got sick off a street dog last week, and the last cab I took, the cabbie asked me how to get where I was going. Needless to say, the Yankees game was the only task on my New York 'to do list' that hit a home run in my books.
Last night at the Yankees VS Mariner's game, I was pleasantly surprised -- it was awesome. I did learn a lot, such as the fact that Mickey Mantle really wasn't on 3rd base and Babe Ruth wasn't pitching... just kidding... I already knew that.
If you didn't already know, there are three teams leading the divisions and whoever wins the division is in the playoffs. The team with the next best record gets the "wild card" spot. Turns out that the NY Yankees and Seattle Mariners were head to head for this "wild card" spot, so as you can imagine, the game was intense. Up until the 7th inning, the game was pretty close, with the Yankees leading 3-0.
With beers in hand (obviously, because who doesn't drink a beer or 2, or 5 when you're at a Yankee's game?) we were glued to the game - bright lights in our face and occasionally catching glimpses of the squirrel who hangs out on top of the flag posts. After the 7th inning people started to clear out, seeing as the Yankees started kicking some real Mariner's ass 11-1 and we snuck down a few rows... ok, a lot of rows, just behind home base. I don't really remember the exact plays of the game, but I do remember that Jorge Posada hit 2 home runs, that was awesome. He rocks.
Overall, great Yankee's game. I'd definitely go see them again, only this time, I'll be sure to buy a pink Yankee's hat!
