This Just In: Vick Not Even A Good QB
On a busy and disappointing week for the former Falcons quarterback, sources close to the Michael Vick camp have confirmed to me that, “Vick’s really not even that good.” This comes after Vick has agreed to a guilty plea in his dog-fighting case. The plea, of course, will put him out of football for the foreseeable future.
“Yea, we’re pretty pumped about that,” new Falcons quarterback Joey Harrington said, while also pointing out that even he owns a better career completion percentage than the speedy, yet overrated Vick. “I mean, did you see how bad Vick was in the playoffs last year? Oh, that’s right. You didn’t. He didn’t make the playoffs.”
With 71 career touchdown passes and 52 career interceptions, Vick should at least be applauded for making football fans forget about how truly bad he is. In fact, my sources are telling me that, other than the Vick family, the three parties most disappointed with Monday’s events are the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Carolina Panthers.
“We pretty much knew what Vick was going to do every time,” Panthers LB Dan Morgan said. “And if he for some reason threw it, it was probably going to end up incomplete or in Mike Minter’s arms.”
Among those happy with Monday’s news were:
- Joey Harrington – As one NFL executive said when Harrington originally became a Falcon, “The only way this guy could be a quarterback is if Michael Vick gets hurt or goes to jail.” Weird how that worked out.
- Bobby Petrino – “In order for my offense to work,” he said, “we need someone to complete more than 53.8 percent of his passes.”
- Brian Brohm – “It’s an honor to be the new starting quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons,” Brohm said in a prepared statement. “I can’t wait to finish my career here at Louisville and be the No. 1 pick of an Atlanta team that is sure to be the worst in the NFL this year.”
